Ngarrgu Djerring Aboriginal Heritage Walk

12 September - 13 September 2026

Join our First Peoples guides for a special weekend of connection to culture and Country, combining the Aboriginal Heritage Walk with a unique native food experience delivered in collaboration with the Killara Foundation.

Through authentic storytelling, traditional knowledge and lived experiences, discover the rich history and continuing culture of Australia’s First Peoples. Explore significant native plants throughout Melbourne Gardens and engage your senses through taste, touch and smell as you learn about their traditional uses, customs and enduring connection to Country.

Continue your journey with an authentic First Peoples native food experience and enjoy your own Ngarrgu Djerring Bento Box, featuring native ingredients inspired by the plants and stories shared throughout the Walk.

In Woi-wurrung, “Ngarrgu” means knowledge and “Djerring” means together, reflecting the spirit of this special experience. Hear from Killara Foundation chefs as they introduce the native ingredients and share how they have been thoughtfully brought together in this unique tasting experience.

A limited-time opportunity to connect with culture and Country through First Peoples knowledge, storytelling and native food.
