Jade Bell
Technical Assistant (Orchid Conservation)
Jade Bell is the Technical Assistant in RBGV's Orchid Conservation Program. She cares for the more than 200 species of Australian terrestrial orchids grown within the nursery's ex situ living collections. Jade also manages the orchid seedbank, and oversees the collection, cleaning, drying, databasing and storage of a crucial repository of Australia's most threatened orchids. Working alongside Jade is a group of passionate volunteers who assist with daily nursery and seedbank maintenance tasks. Jade also loves getting out into the field and contributing to the Orchid team's studies, translocations and data collection activities.
With a background in both ecology and native plant horticulture, Jade combines her skills and passion with her everyday work to support the many threatened orchids she cares for. She has a particular interest in reintroduction ecology, as well as data collection and management, which she eagerly explores throughout the many projects delivered by the orchid team at RBGV.
